Position: Medical Rehabilitation Officer (Physiotherapist)

Location: Kasulu (Nyarugusu camp) – Kigoma Region

Reports to: Medical Rehabilitation Manager

Number of Positions: Three (3)



Job summary:

This position is responsible for supporting rehabilitation activities at the medical rehabilitation outreach centers in coordination with the medical rehabilitation Manager in Nyarugusu refugee camp. The role works closely with the Protection officers (case management and inclusion): monitors administratively the work of the rehabilitation assistants and community outreach workers. Ensures quality implementation of the rehabilitation services through outreach programs and assessment of clients with functional disorders.

Responsibilities:

Ensure quality implementation of medical rehabilitation activities in Nyarugusu refugee camp, adherence to donor regulations, as well as IRC Tanzania’s country program strategic plans in coordination with the medical rehabilitation Manager.
Ensures proper identification of functional needs of PWDs in coordination with the medical rehabilitation Manager. Support rehabilitation services carried out in the CBR outreach centers, home based rehabilitation and at the medical rehabilitation outreach centers in line with CBR matrix and international classification of function.
Monitoring   the work of the Medical rehabilitation assistant and ensuring they work as per standards.
Mobilize PWDs and PSN, and assist with them to form their self help groups in collaboration with community based structures.
Organize ways to create outreach work, awareness on the needs of rehabilitation support and protection of persons with disabilities and other forms of vulnerability in the community and advocate for the accessible environment for PWDs.
Ensure efficient case management- and referral system is in place for PWDs, including tracking of referrals to ensure that services are provided and needs are met accordingly in collaboration with other professionals.
Maintain communication with the management on the areas of sector achievements and   relevant concerns on how to improve where necessary.
Prepare activity plans, weekly, monthly and timely submit to the Supervisor for review as required by the sector head in line with the sector objectives and collaborate with the data officers.


Requirements:

A holder of BSc. or diploma in Physiotherapy with at least 1 year relevant experience.
Experience working in the area of disabilities and care of PWDs and other vulnerable persons required.
Experience working in CBR outreach services in the refugee camp desirable.
Ability to work independently with a high degree of initiative required.
Good IT skills: knowledge of MS Word; Excel and Outlook required and ability to track and manage data required.
Swahili and good English written and oral skills required. French a plus.
