Background of the organization
Greening Africa is an African Project Organization applying the methodology of Pachamama Raymi. (See www.pachamamaraymi.org for details) its mother organization, Pachamama Raymi, has a rigorously tested approach to nurture prosperous communities through community-led ecosystem regeneration in the most degraded and impoverished areas in the world. Around 1600 communities reclaimed c.a. 10.000ha of severely degraded land in Peru. Over the last three years, after a successful pilot in the Villages of Vilima Vitatu, Sarame, Sangaiwe and Mwada, about 1,100 families have already reclaimed over 1000 ha of land.
We realize that much more is needed. Therefore, Pachamama Raymi will put all the pre-requisites in place to expand its approach.
To pursue its ambition Pachamama Raymi is looking for talented and experienced individuals who are inspired by the vision of Pachamama Raymi/Greening Africa; individuals that have a natural gift to work effectively in teams. Individuals with the right experience and technical skills and individuals with the highest work ethic.
The project is recruiting for a Financial Manager External Supervisor.
(S)he is responsible for the efforts and results of the financial department. He will be reporting to the Executive Director of Greening Africa in regards to all financial and accounting activities.
Greening Africa’s office is in Magugu. Over time, we need a full-time financial controller but for now we need that (s)he will work five days per month in the Magugu office.
Once there is a joint agreement the Finance Manager will spend two days in the field to learn the basics of the approach of Pachamama Raymi. The executive Director will take care of a productive introduction program.
Responsibilities
The Finance Manager is able to work independently and objectively as (s)he seeks to implement financial processes, and procedures that lead to timely and accurate financial reporting for the Greening Africa Organization for the different parties involved. More specifically his/her responsibilities are:
Overall responsible for all financial procedures and processes
Performs forecasting and budgeting for all projects
In charges of month-end closing process and ensures timely financial and management reporting.
Manages the finance team (currently two project administrators)
Ensures that all statutory requirements are met.
Ensures that the appropriate financial control systems are in place and ensures that these are correctly operated.
Prepares the Financial Statements and is in charge of the statutory financial audit
Requirements
Education:
o A CPA degree according to Tanzanian Law.
Work experience
o At least 3 years’ experience as a Financial Manager preferably in an organization in rural development.
o Experience in working as part of a team and as a team manager.
Competencies and skills
o Extensive experience with Quickbooks or similar accounting software
o Fluency in Swahili and in English (in speaking and writing)
o Excellent communication skills
o Excellent computer skills (Word, Excel, Power Point)
Values
o Strong personal motivation for poverty eradication and rehabilitation of natural resources.
o Has an impeccable record managing a financial department with integrity, pointing away from any form of corruption.
o Track record of developing people and effective collaboration with relevant third parties.
Working Conditions
· Preferably the Finance Manager will work from the Magugu office, but we are also open to temporary arrangement in which (s)he will work from a remote office for parts of the days in a month as explained above.
· Salary: According to experience and function, to be negotiated
