Lower back pain, often referred to as lumbago or “sciatica” is a common condition that affects people of all ages. It can be caused by muscle strain, damage to the nerves in the lower spine, arthritis and other conditions. Symptoms include localized pain or discomfort in the lower back region, difficulty bending forward or sideways and trouble getting up after sitting for extended periods of time. There are a number of risk factors that can cause lower back pain. This is due to a number of factors, including the following: 

1. Age. As people age, their spines change and they become more prone to injuries that can lead to chronic lower back pain. Older adults also tend to engage in activities which put them at higher risk for injury-causing agents such as poor posture or incorrect lifting techniques. 


2. Genetics/heredity - People who have inherited conditions associated with disc degeneration, fusion abnormalities or spinal stenosis may be predisposed to develop lower back pain if they participate in activities that increase stress on the spine beyond its natural limit..


 3. Inactivity/overuse - Over time an inactive lifestyle combined with sitting and standing too much contributes overworked muscles which leads eventually increases tension, fatigue and stiffness causing strain and weakness in your back region.
