SUMMARY
Cuso
International is a development organization that works to reduce poverty and
inequality through the efforts of highly skilled volunteers, collaborative
partnerships and compassionate donors. In Tanzania, Cuso International support
the country to attain Sustainable Economic Growth and improved Access to Quality
Health Services. To this end, Tanzania Local Enterprise Development (T-LED) and
Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health (RMNCAH) Project
(VOICE) and Midwives Save Lives (MSL) Projects are being implemented in eight
regions of Tanzania. Cuso International implements TLED and VOICE in
partnership with Voluntary Services Overseas. Our main development funding
partner is Global Affairs Canada.
Our
primary intervention is through the provision of professional international,
diaspora and national technical advisors, who work with local partners to
deliver development programs. Our technical advisors are highly skilled
volunteers, usually mid to late career professionals, who bring strong
qualifications, years of post-qualification experience, commitment and new
ideas to bear in their role as coaches and mentors. Cuso International
volunteers will be based with key partner organizations including Tanzania
Midwife Association (TAMA), Small Industry Development Organization (SIDO),
Tanzania Women Chamber of Commerce (TWCC), Tanzania Chamber of Commerce
Industry and Agriculture (TCCIA) and Regional Health Management Teams (RHMTs).
The post
holder will have the key role in providing a range of logistic and
administrative support for the effective implementation of the Cuso Program in
Tanzania. The post holder will work with Country Office team and other field
and HQ based staff to actively contribute to the strategic development of our
Volunteers, logistics and administrative functions, and effective utilization
of resources.
KEY
RESPONSIBILITIES
Volunteer
and Placement Roles
Deliverables
Cuso
International’s volunteers working in country are adequately supported in their
placements and working effectively with their local partner organizations.
Volunteers are engaged in all aspects of project development, including helping
to set priorities, supporting funding and/or partnership opportunities etc.
Responsibilities
• Work
closely with Project Team to plan and develop relevant and coherent volunteer
placement documentation that clearly link to project strategic goals.
• Manage
in-country volunteers, including supporting on the development of work plans,
goals and responsibilities while on placement.
• Ensure
relationships and communication between project staff and volunteers, and the
wider Cuso International team in Tanzania are cooperative and professional.
• Ensure
excellent communication channels between project staff, other Cuso
International staff and headquarters, so that placement and project information
is flowing between all parties and deadlines are being met by all stakeholders.
•
Working closely with the Finance and Admin Manger, in the development of
volunteer in-country orientations upon arrival, facilitating some of the
learning and orientation events as appropriate.
•
Support volunteers to understand local context, how change happens and how
gender inequalities operate in local context.
• Keep
abreast of volunteer’s progress and/or challenges in their placements and
support any learning or professional development they may require to achieve
their objectives.
• Engage
volunteers in project planning, development and resource diversification, as
appropriate.
• Assist
the Project Partners in handling any volunteer or partner complaints,
conducting investigations where necessary; participate in discussions where
policies and procedures do not offer a proper resolution to a volunteer’s
concern or situation, involving HQ staff as deemed necessary.
• Work
with the Finance and Admin Manager to ensure emergency and risk-management plan
developed at the country-level, is well-communicated, implemented and reviewed
on a regular basis, covering the safety and security of volunteers and project
staff.
• Keep
the CR informed of any potential security threat, whether low, medium or high,
at all times.
• Will
be responsible for all volunteer logistics and will communicate with Cuso HQ on
all matters related to volunteer management
• Will
provide support to Cuso Tanzania projects partners on matters related to
volunteer placements
• Will
be the safety and security focal person for Cuso Tanzania, responsible for
reviewing annual safety and security plan and for managing the entire safety
and security process in Tanzania
• Will
be responsible for securing various permits for volunteers and other office
visitors and will provide support to other Cuso partners in securing volunteer
permits
Administration
•
Provides a range of logistic and administrative support to Cuso Tanzania Office
to ensure effective functioning of the office by:
•
Travel, Flights and hotel bookings and expense reports for all staff, Cuso
visitors and volunteers
•
Meeting scheduling, agendas setting and writing of minutes
•
Visitors agenda and logistics
•
Preparation of correspondence
• Filing
of project documents and information
•
Prepares, manages and updates office asset inventory
•
Provides support to activities as assigned by line manager.
• Assist
finance Manager with cheq circulations and other logistics of the office
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
•
Bachelor of Business Administration /equivalent
Experience
• At
least 3 years’ experience in managing multi-Donor funds in the International
development context
•
Experience supporting project development and monitoring
•
Administration experience, including project management
• Solid
experience with Excel spreadsheets
• Solid
experience with Microsoft Office and databases
Abilities
• Able
