POSITION: DRIVER


Abt Associates, a major American business and government research, technical assistance, and consulting company, manages the USAID-funded Vector Control Task Order 1. Task Order 1 will Support US presidents Malaria Initiative (PMI) and USAID to plan and implement an integrated vector control approach to the overall goal of reducing the burden of malaria. Abt has implemented indoor residual spraying(IRS) for PMI since 2011, delivering high-quality IRS programs and gathering the most comprehensive vector control etymological data in the world. Under this contract, Abt will expand entomological monitoring to guide programs focused on insecticide-treated mosquito nets and IRS and continue to assist PMI in reducing the burden of malaria through IRS and capacity building in 22 African countries where malaria is endemic. Abt also will continue to support PMI in IRS monitoring and evaluation, as well as environmental compliance Abt Associates seeks qualified candidates for the project operations in Tanzania. Brief descriptions and qualification requirements for Senior, Mid and Junior level positions are also listed below.
Driver
Operates and maintain project vehicles to meet the transportation needs of the program.
Follows the schedule of routine vehicle maintenance
Keeps detailed records of vehicle movements and maintenance performed.
Supports the project office by performing general service tasks, repairs, deliveries etc
Requirements
Secondary School(desirable), a valid driver’s license, and at least 1 year of commercial driving experience.

Environmental Compliance Officer
Responsible for overseeing program compliance with United States Government (USG) and local environmental regulations, and program adherence to requirements as laid out in USAID Programmatic and Supplemental Environmental Assessment and Pesticide Evaluation Report and its amendments
Requirements
Master’s Degree in Public Health, Environmental Health, or other relevant fields
Two years of successful training and coaching experience in a field environment

Assures that commodities used in IRS Campaigns are secure, accounted for, and safely stored at the project’s main warehouse
Receives, deliver, and registers IRS commodities, and ensures that storage facilities at the commune-level ready for IRS operation.

 Assistant Storekeeper
Works under the supervision of the Warehouse manager who is responsible for inventory management, and assuring that commodities used in IRS campaigns are secure, accounted for and safely stored at the project’s main warehouse year round.
Supports the Warehouse Manager in the logistics of receiving, delivering, and accurately recording IRS commodities for IRS campaigns, and ensure that storage facilities at the district-level are ready for IRS programming.
Requirements:
Secondary School completion, at least six(6) months of relevant professional experience, with significant experience in the procurement and logistics of commodities, experience working with regional government and in warehouse/stores management, organizational, computer, and writing skills, and abilities in English are highly advantageous

POSITION: Regional Coordinator
Performs programmatic and management oversight for all aspects of the project’s spray operations, including campaign planning, technical assistance and training, logistical and operational support and supervision, and activity tracking and reporting
S/he will coordinate closely with government counterparts, and oversee the activities of project field staff and seasonal spray teams
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in public or community health, environmental health, entomology, or other relevant field and three plus years of experience in vector control and IRS.
In-depth knowledge of regulatory and operational aspect of insecticide use and management
