Job
Description
The
incumbent will be the overall in charge of school operations and business
management. Specifically s/he will be responsible for day to day running of the
school(s) activities that are not directly related to teaching; this includes
administration, finances, human resource management, information technology,
health, safety, and property management.
Reports
to: School Director and the Board.
Supervises:
Finance and Admin Officer, IT Officer, Driver, Cleaners, Cooks, Security Guards
and Grounds staff.
1. Administration
a. Maintain a positive, safe learning
environment through the promotion of the school philosophy and vision.
b. Handle all administration issues related to
ordering and usage of teaching materials, aids, stationery, uniforms and food.
c. Handle all HR matters for Esiimi staff
d. Manage communication and school calendar
for academics and other activities.
e. Prepare school documents/ reports for
various stakeholders.
f. Handle school transport needs including
management of vehicle(s).
2. Finance
a. Prepare Annual and Monthly Budget for the
whole school.
b. Produce monthly expenditure report as per
Director’s approvals.
c. Liase with Esiimi External Auditors to
produce annual financial reports.
d. Ensure financial statutory compliance-
taxes, pension, licenses.
3. School facility and property management
a. Ensure properties are safe for the school
and maintained accordingly.
b. Ensure ongoing monitoring of property as
per agreed terms and as per additives budget for services being provided
including, buildings, transport, catering, grounds and cleaning.
c. Monitor community use of the property and
facilities.
d. purchase and repair of all furniture and
fittings.
4. Information Technology
a. Coordinate technology implementation
(planning, procurement/ sourcing, and training).
b. Coordinate IT classes for the community
c. Ensure all systems and databases are secure
including Data Protection for use of technology across the school.
d. Ensure resources, support and training are
provided to enable work colleagues to make the best use of available ICT
including teaching, learning and assessment systems.
e. Ensure contingency plans are in place in
the case of technology failure.
5. Health and Safety
a. Ensure school meets H&S standards as
per government authorities’ requirements (MoEVT, MOHCDGEC and OSHA)
b. Coordinate school safety plans - fire
drills, earthquake plans and student health including first aid.
6. Other duties as may be assigned by the
board.
EXPERIENCE
AND COMPETENCIES REQUIRED
1. University Degree preferably in
education, management or other relevant fields.
2. Ability to lead, collaborate and work
well with others.
3. Must have extensive experience in
administration and operations of private primary and/or secondary schools
preferably in Tanzania
4. Understanding of procurement process
5. General understanding of Health and
Safety standards and needs for schools.
6. Technology savvy- conversant in using
basic computer packages e.g. Microsoft Suite.
7. Good communication in both English and
Kiswahili.
8. General understanding of finance
processes in an organization.
9. Must possess impeccable character,
leadership skills.
