Program Officer, Literacy Field

Position Overview
The Program Officer Literacy Field leads the strategic and tactical execution for implementing Room to Read’s Literacy program at the field level for a set of schools and also responsible for serving as the technical expert in the field on literacy skills and the habit of reading. The Program Officer Literacy Field serves as the main point of contact for school leaders and coordinates the work of Literacy Facilitator at schools in their jurisdiction. The PO-LF reports to the Field Operations Manager and manages a set of Literacy Facilitators.

Qualifications and Experience:
Required:
University degree in Education or any other related field
Excellent knowledge and understanding of teaching methodologies, curriculum and teacher training at the primary stage



Experience in library management
Strong efficiency in language of implementation (Swahili)
Good command of English ( Both written and Oral)
A minimum of 5 years of professional experience

Experience developing and delivering teacher training’s
Prior experience working with schools, teachers, administrators and government officials
At least a working knowledge and understanding of project management methodology and software
Strong planning, budgetary, supervising, and project implementation skills
Ability to travel regularly to project sites and District offices throughout the region
Proven track record of achieving results
Prior success working closely and building relationships with diverse groups of people
