Amref Health Africa is an independent, non-profit, non-governmental organization (NGO) whose mission is “to improve access to quality health services for some of the poorest and most marginalised people in Tanzania, including communities from urban settlements and rural areas and with a focus on women and children. Amref Health Africa-Tanzania is largely supported by Multilateral, Bilateral and National donors, implementing several programmes including HIV/AIDS/TB/Malaria, Reproductive, Maternal, New-born and Child Health, Water and sanitation, e-learning programme and clinical outreach.

Amref health Africa with support from Global Affairs Canada (GAC) implements Uzazi Uzima II project in Simiyu region aiming to address the problems related to maternal, neonatal and reproductive health in an attempt to improve the indicators related to health of adolescents, women and children in the region. With this regard, Amref Health Africa -Tanzania is seeking for the following vacant position:

Title: Project Manager – Uzazi Uzima II Project
Location: Bariadi, Simiyu
Reports to: Programme Manager – RMNCAH

JOB OBJECTIVES
Direct reports to the Programme Manager – providing technical support to Uzazi Uzima Project within Amref Health Africa implementation team and its implementing partners in line to national RMNCAH standards

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
Take leadership and oversee general management and day today implementation of the project and supervises its staff
Responsible in developing a Team up and work with project staff to build up a workable and cost-effective model for the Uzazi Uzima II project.
Work with Regional, district teams and ground partners in compiling technical information for the project
Work with the Programme Manager in packaging evidences generated alongside the identified project strategic components for the Uzazi Uzima II Project

In collaboration with project M&E technical advisor, perform in-depth project analysis and research for understanding and improving women, child and new-born health and WASH interventions in Amref Health Africa.
Guide technical staff in identification and addressing local health systems gaps and challenges among women, children and new-born and WASH that impact into their wellbeing.
Ensure timely preparation and compilation of projects reports from all components and liaise with ME technical advisor and project officers to ensure prompt reports submission to donor after review by the Programme and M&E Manager.

Support technical teams to focus on results management in line with agreed results-based framework for the project.

Work with the Uzazi Uzima technical team in identifying areas for operational research.
Spearhead documentation of lessons learned and dissemination of knowledge and best practices.


Liasing with Programme Manager and other technical staff in Amref Health Africa, to actively participate in programme development, proposal writing consistent with Amref Health Africa strategic approaches.

Support the Programme Manager in adhering to operational regulations and the set standards for project management and financial procedures.
Promote teamwork and encourage project teams and partners in owning the project and ensure quality provision of MNCH/WASH services.
Manage technical staff performance and development.

ACCOUNTABILITY:
Supervision: Work independently on tasks related to project management with periodic reporting and direction from supervisor.
Decision Making: Make decisions on the project implementation and its daily management.
Responsibility over data or information: Has access to important information as regards to the project, its budget and the general trend and performance of the project
Responsibility over assets: Proper management of financial resources, equipment and project utilities like vehicles.
Responsibility over Staff: Responsibility over Project Officers, Assistants and Drivers. Has a working relationship with M&E officer and project accountant

REQUIRED JOB QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Holder of Master’s degree in public health, community development, medicine and nursing, or related from a recognized high learning institutions; with strong background with basic degree qualifications in medicine (MD, DDS) or nursing , social sciences
Six (6) years’ or more experience in implementing maternal and child health interventions, community system intervention, Public health system, experience in working with local government and well phased with the Tanzania health system.

Ability to work independently good leadership and communication skills
Ability to work with people from all backgrounds
