Overview
TANZANIA NATIONAL ROADS AGENCY (TANROADS) is a Semi -Autonomous Agency under the Ministry’ of Works, Transport and Communication established on July 1, 2000 and suitably is responsible for the day-to-day management of the Tanzania Mainland’s Trunk and Regional Roads Network. Its primary functions include the roads network maintenance and axle load control, the implementation of road safety and environmental measures, provision of advice on the strategic framework policies and plans for the road sector.
Tanzania National Roads Agency (TANROADS) is vested with the responsibility of Maintenance and Development of Trunk and Regional Roads Networks in Tanzania Mainland. The Agency is also responsible for conducting Axle Load Control Operations through Weighbridges.
In making sure that the Agency strengthens the capacity to perform its functions effectively, the Regional Manager (TANROADS – Coast) seeks to recruit qualified and competent Tanzanian Citizens to fill the available vacancies at Regional Manager’s Office TANROADS – Coast on contract terms as follows below:
TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF SERVICE:
Appointments will be on Contract Terms of Two (2) years (renewable) subject to satisfactory performance, efficiency and effectiveness.
POSITION TITTLE: LABORATORY ASSISTANTS II-5 Vacancies
POSITION RELATIONSHIP: Reports to Head of Planning Unit
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Clean laboratory premises
Carry out in situ testing
Maintain laboratory apparatus and equipment
Undertake laboratory tests and monitoring tests results and trends
Perform such other related duties as may be assigned by the supervisor
KEY QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be Tanzanian Citizen
Holder of Certificate of Secondary Education Examination who passed Mathematics. English and Kiswahili
Experience in Soil and Material Laboratory will be an added advantage
Not above 45 years of age
SALARY: TANROADS Scale 2.1
POSITION TITTLE: WEIGHBRIDGE OPERATORS - 4 Vacancies
POSITION RELATIONSHIP: Reports to Shift In-charge
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Carrying out activities as described in The East Africa Community Vehicle Load Control Act (2016). The activities include the following:
Weigh Motor Vehicles Gross Vehicle Mass (GVM) as well as axle weights as described in The East Africa Community Vehicle Load Control Act (2016).
Impose road damage fee for overloaded vehicles
Measure physical dimension of Motor Vehicles or any load being carried on the motor vehicle
Ascertain compliance with special permits for trucks carrying abnormal loads
Record all necessary particulars regarding the motor vehicle being weighed
Enforce Road Traffic Axle Load Control by the use of Weighbridge Scale devices
Perform any other related duties as may be assigned by Head of Weighbridge Unit
KEY QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be Tanzanian Citizen
Holder of a Full Technician Certificate (FTC) or Diploma in Civil. Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from a recognized Institution
Must be a computer literate (at least Advanced Certificate in Computer Applications)
Not above 35 years of age
Must be fluent in Kiswahili and English
SALARY: TANROADS Scale 4.1
POSITION TITTLE: DRIVERS - 2 Vacancies
POSITION RELATIONSHIP: Reports to Head of Accounts and Administration
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Drive Agency’s motor vehicles
Maintain the vehicle logbook
Undertake motor vehicle services
Maintain safety and cleanliness of the motor vehicle
Delivers and collects mail and goods; and
Perform such other related duties as may be assigned by the supervisor
KEY QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be Tanzanian Citizen
Holder of Certificate of Secondary Education Examination who passed English and Kiswahili’
Holder of Basic Driving Course offered by VETA or any other recognized institution
Must have a driving license Grade C or E with good track record in driving for not less than one (1) year
Not above 45 years of age
SALARY: TANROADS Scale 2.1
POSITION TITTLE: OFFICE ASSISTANT II-1 Vacancy
POSITION RELATIONSHIP: Reports to Head of Accounts and Administration
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Clean Office premises
Prepare and serve refreshments
Move files and documents as directed
Undertake photocopying and/ or binding of documents
Dispatch letters or parcels
Collect letters from the post office
Ensure Office equipment is kept in proper places.
Perform any such other related duties as may be assigned by the supervisor
KEY QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be Tanzanian Citizen
Holder of Certificate of Secondary Education Examination who passed English and Kiswahili
Qualification in Hotel Management and/ or Housekeeping will be an added advantage
Not above 45 years of age
