Tanzania has set the
goal to be certified open defecation free (ODF)
and ensure 75% of its
population has access to improved sanitation
and hygiene facilities
by 2021. Under this objective, the Ministry of
Health, Community
Development, Gender, Elderly and Children
(MoHCDGEC) is currently
implementing the National Sanitation
Campaign (NSC) as part
of rolling out the Water Sector
Development Program
(WSDP) II, which promotes the construction
and improvement of
sanitation facilities, handwashing with soap at
critical times, water
safety at point of use and general environmental
cleanliness. NSC
generates reports through the National Sanitation
Management Information
System (NSMIS), an online system built
on a DHIS2 platform
that allows both manual and data entry.
WaterAid Tanzania,
under the WALIS Program, is supporting the
MoHCDGEC to strengthen
the information system to ensure data
quality, reporting
frequency, storage, accessibility to a wider range of
stakeholders for
transparency and accountability of the ongoing
sanitation programmes and
providing reliable and accurate data to
decision makers. This
will allow for proper national and district level
planning and measure of
performance against the set sanitation and
hygiene target.
WaterAid is therefore looking to hire an ICT Officer
to work with the
MoHCDGEC in implementing this project. The ICT
Officer will be
stationed at the MoHCDGEC to provide direct
technical support to
the Ministry and ensure proper collaboration
and follow-up
